A Song I’ll Never Sing #2

Can’t you tell that I’m afraid?
When I open my mouth to finally share with you,
All that has been locked within,
Will you understand?

Can’t you tell that I’m afraid?
When I open my mouth to tell you secrets,
Things I have kept hidden,
Will you understand?
You know, I can’t help it
I’m afraid that everything I do will never be enough, better.
I’m afraid that all I am, who I am will never be understood,
But I’m most afraid that I can’t escape this fear

I know you can’t tell that I’m afraid.
When smiles never fade on my face
And laughter never dies from my mouth,
How could you?

I know you can’t tell that I’m afraid.
With all these masks, I too fool myself sometimes,
So I don’t blame you, but why can’t you try?
Why can’t you try?

You know, I can’t help it
I’m afraid that everything I do will never be enough, better
I’m afraid that all I am, who I am will never be understood,
But I’m most afraid that I’ll never escape this darkness
Will you not try?
Somehow, to see past the façade
And into my fears, this whirlpool in which I’m spinning,
Please will you not try to see?

You know, I can’t help it
I’m afraid that everything I do will never be enough, better
I’m afraid that all I am, who I am will never be understood.
But I’m most afraid that I’ll never escape this darkness.
I’m afraid of it all
